About being our Land Survey Intern

Psomas' Survey Department is currently involved in a wide variety of project work, including roadway and interchange improvements, boundary work, subsurface utility networks, airports, and construction layouts. As a Survey Intern, you'll spend your summer learning the fundamentals of professional land surveying through real-world, on the job training. You'll visit a variety of job sites and assist with field work using industry-standard equipment and technology such as learning how to make precise survey measurements utilizing robotic total stations, digital levels, and network GPS rovers. This opportunity is for a temporary paid internship designed for the duration of the summer. The anticipated work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm. This position involves travel to job sites located throughout Washington, primarily in the greater Puget Sound area.


Responsibility Highlights for our Land Survey Intern

  • Learn about field surveying activities including control networks, topographic surveys, construction staking, level loops, monument recovery, and as-built surveys
  • Learn about robotic total stations, digital levels, and GPS/GNSS equipment
  • Take field notes and support data collection efforts
  • Gain insight into daily field operations, safety practices, and project delivery within budget
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications to be our Land Survey Intern

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver License and the ability to travel daily to job sites
  • Ability to work outdoors and/or on active construction sites, including walking over uneven terrain, climbing ladders, crawling, stooping, being outdoors in inclement weather, wearing proper safety equipment, and practicing industry safety protocols
